5 out of 5. I have always wanted massive slabs of wood and Richard certainly knows how to deliver them. 50 inches wide, six inches thick and 6 meters long! Richard truly knows his stuff and has all the kit needed to deliver an exceptional and unique service. We (Haddon Estate) have used Richard twice and would not hesitate to use him again. His help and advice on both occasions were to us very professional and helpful. On the first visit he converted 650 cu ft of oak into true quarter sawn boards some boards 22 in wide, and on the second visit he converted 600 cu ft of oak into various thicknesses. Richard has been out to us on four occasions now. On each occasion Richard worked extremely hard as was very well prepared and organised to ensure we got a lot of timber sawn. Richard has worked with timber in our yard using his woodmizer mill, and also sawn up a large Oak butt in a back garden using a chainsaw mill. "The hands on experience was good value, (I don't know where else you get a days bespoke hands
on one to one tuition for this kind of money!), fun, and nothing quite like anything I've
done before. It was good to be able to try the process before
investing large amounts of cash.
Given sawmilling is a potentially hazardous occupation, it was much
appreciated the professional manner in which the day was conducted, the initial safety
briefing, advice etc and of course your knowledge of the subject. I have
come away with certain things tattooed in my head with regard to improving my
working practice, stance etc.
